Benefit Systems boosts its fitness club portfolio

Benefit Systems adds 5 Calypso Fitness gyms in Warsaw, Katowice and Bytom to its own club portfolio. As a result, the company will enhance its product offering in major agglomerations, while the number of clubs in its own network in Poland will soon reach 208. The value of the transaction amounts to PLN 22 million, of which PLN 13 million will be paid by Benefit Systems to the other Calypso Fitness S.A. shareholders as part of the deal.

The facilities acquired include: Calypso Fitness Warszawa Adgar (with a surface area of 1,858 m2) in an office building in the Ochota district of Warsaw, Calypso Fitness Warszawa Białołęka in a standalone building with a parking lot (with a surface area of 1,080 m2), Calypso Fitness Bytom (with a surface area of 1,530 m2) in the Agora shopping mall, as well as Calypso Fitness Katowice Silesia (with a surface area of 1,997 m2) and Calypso Fitness Katowice Supersam (with a surface area of 1,828 m2), both located in popular shopping malls.

- Our strong cash position enables us to pursue our strategic plans of a dynamic development of our own network through a series of acquisitions. The number of MultiSport Programme users is constantly growing and we want to provide them with top-tier services and a wide selection of fitness clubs. Following the purchase of 16 facilities earlier this year, after a detailed analysis we decided to acquire another 5 major attractive Calypso Fitness facilities, which are popular among both our sport card users and individual customers. They are the perfect complement to our portfolio in Warsaw and in Silesia, both of which are key markets for our business- says Marcin Fojudzki, Member of the Management Board of Benefit Systems.

The acquisition of 5 Calypso Fitness venues further strengthens Benefit Systems’ own network this year, following the purchase of Gravitan clubs (2) in October, Manufaktura Zdrowia facilities (2) and Studio Energia in recent months, as well as Saturn Fitness (6) and Calypso Fitness (16) clubs in the early 2023.

Benefit Systems is a minority shareholder of Calypso Fitness S.A. (33.33% of shares). The other shareholders are: Camaro FIZAN (50.1%) and CAL Capital sp. z o.o. (16.57%). CAL Capital intends for the funds due to the company as a result of the transaction, amounting to ca. PLN 3.2 million, less the obligatory public law liabilities, to be earmarked for the pursuit of the statutory goals of the MultiSport Foundation established by Benefit Systems.

From gyms to wellness centres: how fitness clubs in Kraków have changed over the years.
In the past, the gym was primarily associated with barbells and weights. The offering was simple, and the space was dedicated primarily to strength training. Will new pay transparency regulations consign classic spreadsheets to the dustbin of history? HR needs a new data architecture.
Implementing the pay transparency directive is not merely a legal and organisational challenge for HR teams. It is also a test of companies’ technological maturity. Employers will evaluate positions, assign employees to appropriate pay levels, analyse the pay gap, and prepare salary information taking all variables into account. In practice, this may entail working with large volumes of sensitive data, where relying solely on spreadsheets for processing can become less efficient and more prone to errors.
