Winter is in full swing and the holidays are underway. It’s worth reminding children about some safety rules.

The winter weather does not leave the country. In many regions, snow remains on the ground and water bodies are covered with a layer of ice. According to current forecasts, this situation will not change any time soon. Winter break will last until 1 March, so in the coming weeks children will be spending more time outdoors, enjoying the charms of winter. This is the moment when the risks typical of this time of year – icing, limited visibility and frozen waters – become particularly important. Experts and services are calling for regular reminders of the rules of safe behaviour to young children.

Spontaneous and varied physical activity from an early age, also as part of PE classes.

The level of inactivity among children and adolescents is constantly increasing, and their physical condition is at an alarmingly low level. Therefore, from 1 September 2025, schools across Poland began implementing a new core curriculum for physical education, which focuses on a variety of activities, flexibility for teachers, and building healthy habits that will last a lifetime. The MultiSport Foundation, which has been running the Active MultiSport Schools Programme – a free programme for primary and secondary schools – for years has introduced activities to support teachers in implementing the new guidelines.

Safe holidays with the MultiSport Foundation

During the holidays, children have more free time and independence, and they also undertake more spontaneous activities, which is why special care for their safety is essential. The MultiSport Foundation, which implements numerous programmes aimed at children and young people, has launched a publicly available educational programme called “MultiSafety.” As part of the initiative, addressed to children and their guardians, as well as teachers, the foundation has created a special manual and lesson plans for primary schools focused on recognising threats and teaching safety at home, in the city, and outdoors with particular emphasis on physical activity. The programme is in line with the current goals related to ensuring children’s health and safety, set by the Ministry of National Education for the 2025/2026 school year.
