Together with the financial results, Benefit Systems also published the Non-Financial Report for 2022 – download the report.

Commentary by Bartosz Józefiak, Management Board Member at Benefit Systems, regarding the results ( published together with the estimated results for the fourth quarter of 2022): We had a very successful year, which we ended with a record number of 1.6 million sports cards, a good operating result, and a strong balance sheet. Throughout 2022, despite the first months devoted to rebuilding our business after the pandemic, we gained almost half a million new users. The fourth quarter was also very successful: the number of cards increased by over 120,000 in Poland and by over 50,000 on foreign markets. The attendance in fitness clubs last year, which was the highest in a decade, is particularly noteworthy. The demand for the offer of fitness clubs significantly exceeded our expectations. Our own fitness networks ended the year with more than 180,000 passes and revenues over 20% higher than the results reported at the end of the fourth quarter of 2019. Numerous initiatives focused on cost optimisation implemented since the beginning of the pandemic and the revenues generated last year resulted in a significant improvement in the profitability of our fitness clubs. This area was an important element of the increase in profits in 2022 compared to the period before the pandemic. Its impact amounted to over PLN 40 million.

From gyms to wellness centres: how fitness clubs in Kraków have changed over the years.
In the past, the gym was primarily associated with barbells and weights. The offering was simple, and the space was dedicated primarily to strength training. Today, a fitness club is much more than that: you can practise Reformer Pilates, train for HYROX competitions, access physiotherapy services, use the sauna, or unwind after work in the recovery zone. Increasingly, you don’t have to be an avid athlete to feel at ease in such a place.

Will new pay transparency regulations consign classic spreadsheets to the dustbin of history? HR needs a new data architecture.
Implementing the pay transparency directive is not merely a legal and organisational challenge for HR teams. It is also a test of companies’ technological maturity. Employers will evaluate positions, assign employees to appropriate pay levels, analyse the pay gap, and prepare salary information taking all variables into account. In practice, this may entail working with large volumes of sensitive data, where relying solely on spreadsheets for processing can become less efficient and more prone to errors.
