Benefit Systems strengthens its portfolio of fitness clubs in Warsaw

Benefit Systems, a provider of non-financial benefits, has finalised the purchase of two Gravitan fitness clubs in the Warsaw metropolitan area with a total area of over 4,000 square meters. As a result, the number of the company’s clubs within its own network increased to 200. The acquisition of attractive facilities is the next step of Benefit Systems that aims at expanding the company’s network of fitness clubs in the largest agglomerations in Poland, maintaining high product quality and consolidating a strong position on the Polish fitness market. The value of the transaction is PLN 21 million.

The acquired clubs are premium facilities with extensive relaxation zones, salt caves, mini gyms for children and many other amenities supporting physical health and regeneration after training. The clubs range from 2,200 to 2,600 square meters, while the average area of Zdrofit network clubs oscillates around 1,500 square meters. The clubs are in Targówek district and Janki near Warsaw. They are situated in attractive communication points, providing customers with easy and convenient access to a wide range of sports activities.

– We see huge potential for further development of the fitness services market. The growing popularity of clubs and gyms as well as the rising importance of exercise in health prevention are trends that will shape the market in Poland for many years to come. By expanding the portfolio of our fitness clubs, we are also achieving stronger synergies with the MultiSport Programme, and the purchase of Gravitan clubs will perfectly complement our offer in the Warsaw agglomeration. This is another acquisition this year, following the purchase of Manufaktura Zdrowia and Studio Energia in recent months as well as the Saturn Fitness and Calypso Fitness network clubs at the beginning of the year. The fact that Gravitan clubs are facilities of a higher standard and at the same time a perfectly calibrated business, generating above-average revenues and profits is particularly noteworthy. Additionally, these clubs have not yet accepted any sports cards which allows us to assume that after joining the MultiSport Programme offer their operating results will further improve – says Marcin Fojudzki, Management Board Member at Benefit Systems.

– Today, 60% of fitness visits by MultiSport Programme users in the six largest agglomerations in Poland are carried out in our facilities. We want this share to continue to grow. At the same time, we effectively integrate the acquired facilities and optimise their operations to best meet the needs of users. This quickly translates into growing revenues and profitability of our own network – adds Jakub Grabowski, Chief Financial Officer at Benefit Systems Fitness Unit.

The company observes continued high interest among employers and employees in the sports offer in all markets in which it operates. At the end of the third quarter of 2023, the number of active sports cards of the Group amounted to a record 1,811,400. The acquired entities strengthen the Group’s offer in the Warsaw agglomeration, which is the most important region of Poland for the MultiSport Programme.

Benefit Systems has been operating on the Polish market for over two decades and is one of the leaders in providing non-financial benefits that support employees’ welfare. The company is the creator of the MultiSport Programme, which enables engaging in physical activity in sports facilities throughout the country. The Benefit Systems portfolio also includes the MyBenefit cafeteria platform and the MultiLife wellbeing programme.

For several years now, the company’s sports offer has been developed on foreign markets, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Croatia. The Benefit Systems Group also operates over 220 fitness clubs in four markets (in Poland it is responsible for the Zdrofit, Fitness Academy, My Fitness Place, Fabryka Formy, StepONE, Total Fitness, FitFabric, Saturn Fitness, Manufaktura Zdrowia networks).

An important area of Benefit Systems activities is promoting an active lifestyle at every stage of life, which is why the company implements initiatives supporting the physical activity of children, adults, and seniors. These goals are implemented, among others, by the MultiSport Foundation. Since 2018, Benefit Systems has been part of the global B Corp initiative bringing together companies involved in solving the most important social problems. From gyms to wellness centres: how fitness clubs in Kraków have changed over the years.
In the past, the gym was primarily associated with barbells and weights. The offering was simple, and the space was dedicated primarily to strength training. Today, a fitness club is much more than that: you can practise Reformer Pilates, train for HYROX competitions, access physiotherapy services, use the sauna, or unwind after work in the recovery zone. Increasingly, you don’t have to be an avid athlete to feel at ease in such a place.

Will new pay transparency regulations consign classic spreadsheets to the dustbin of history? HR needs a new data architecture.
Implementing the pay transparency directive is not merely a legal and organisational challenge for HR teams. It is also a test of companies’ technological maturity. Employers will evaluate positions, assign employees to appropriate pay levels, analyse the pay gap, and prepare salary information taking all variables into account. In practice, this may entail working with large volumes of sensitive data, where relying solely on spreadsheets for processing can become less efficient and more prone to errors.
