Benefit Systems will take over 16 Calypso clubs in attractive locations, expanding the network of its own fitness facilities to 186.

Benefit Systems will significantly strengthen its position on the Polish fitness market by taking over 16 clubs from Calypso Fitness S.A., which it has been cooperating with since the beginning of the MultiSport Programme. The acquired clubs will reinforce the Benefit Systems offer in cities with high growth potential, primarily in Szczecin and the Tri-City. The transaction value was set at PLN 54 million out of which PLN 34.3 million are overdue receivables due to Benefit Systems.

As part of a two-stage transaction, Benefit Systems will take over a total of 16 Calypso clubs in cities with a high business development potential. In the first stage, there will be seven facilities in the Tri-City and four in Szczecin, where the company observes a growing interest in the MultiSport Programme, as well as one in Warsaw and one in Wrocław. In the second stage, by 30 June, Benefit Systems will acquire three Calypso clubs located in Warsaw, Kraków and Częstochowa. As Bartosz Józefiak, Management Board Member at Benefit Systems, emphasises, the decision to make the transaction was supported by long-term cooperation, complementarity of the Calypso clubs’ offer with the company’s own network, and above all, the popularity of the acquired locations among individual clients and MultiSport Programme users.

– Calypso is undoubtedly an example of an inspiring business success story. At the same time, it’s one of the first networks which we started cooperation with as part of the MultiSport Programme. For several years, together with the creator of Calypso, we invested in its development, appreciating the popularity of the clubs among individual clients and MultiSport card users. The clubs which are being taken over operate in very attractive locations and have become a permanent part of the city’s infrastructure. A good example is Calypso Galaxy in Szczecin situated in the largest shopping and entertainment centre in the region. In the case of the Tri-City, after the acquisition of seven Calypso facilities, our base will increase to 21 fitness clubs, which will enable further dynamic development of the offer in the Tri-City agglomeration, i.e. in one of the fastest growing and most prospective regions of Poland. After the transaction, we will have a total of 186 fitness clubs in cities and regions of our country that are key for the MultiSport Programme and that have seen a huge increase in interest in the fitness offer in the last year – explains Bartosz Józefiak.

Benefit Systems will remain a minority shareholder of Calypso Fitness S.A. (approx. 33%).

From gyms to wellness centres: how fitness clubs in Kraków have changed over the years.
In the past, the gym was primarily associated with barbells and weights. The offering was simple, and the space was dedicated primarily to strength training. Today, a fitness club is much more than that: you can practise Reformer Pilates, train for HYROX competitions, access physiotherapy services, use the sauna, or unwind after work in the recovery zone. Increasingly, you don’t have to be an avid athlete to feel at ease in such a place.

Will new pay transparency regulations consign classic spreadsheets to the dustbin of history? HR needs a new data architecture.
Implementing the pay transparency directive is not merely a legal and organisational challenge for HR teams. It is also a test of companies’ technological maturity. Employers will evaluate positions, assign employees to appropriate pay levels, analyse the pay gap, and prepare salary information taking all variables into account. In practice, this may entail working with large volumes of sensitive data, where relying solely on spreadsheets for processing can become less efficient and more prone to errors.
