In the first quarter of this year Benefit Systems focused on ensuring the financial liquidity of the Group and expanding its offer. Therefore, a new product called MultiLife was implemented and the Zdrofit Zdrowe Miejsce facility was prepared for opening. In March there were 436,500 people using the MultiSport Programme in Poland.
– Our goal is to rebuild the card base in Poland and on foreign markets. The fitness industry is active again in the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Slovakia, and from today also in Poland, where we open the vast majority of our clubs. In the coming months we want to implement activities that will allow us to increase the volume of cards to the level from October last year. Therefore, we strengthened our marketing communication and launched, among others, the Summer Game, which encourages MultiSport users to use sports facilities. Soon, a marketing campaign will be launched to promote various sports disciplines and educate our clients and users on how to return to workouts safely. In the first quarter we also worked intensively on our new product, MultiLife, as well as Zdrofit Zdrowe Miejsce facilities that complement the offer of selected clubs with physioprophylaxis services – says Bartosz Józefiak, Management Board Member at Benefit Systems. – Restrictions on the activities of the sports industry in which we operate in Poland and on other markets prompted us to accelerate work on diversifying the offer as well as optimising costs and securing liquidity in the Group. This gave us a strong balance sheet position. The net debt at the end of the first quarter is slightly below the level of December 2020. Considering that our operations were locked down for three out of the last four quarters, we consider it an undoubted success.
In the first quarter of this year the Poland Segment generated revenues of PLN 74.6 million which means that they were 75% lower compared to the same period in 2020. The number of active cards was lower by 63% year on year (436,500). Due to the pandemic situation, the MultiSport Programme was suspended in Poland until January 17 this year. In the period of restrictions introduced in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the Group did not record any revenues on foreign markets. The clubs in Bulgaria were operating as usual. Revenues of the Foreign Countries Segment amounted to PLN 14.2 million and the number of cards on open markets was 92,200. During the discussed period one new club was opened in Bulgaria (there are already 9 of them in total), while the number of clubs in other markets remains unchanged: 15 in the Czech Republic and one in Slovakia. Additionally, preparations are underway to enter the Turkish market.
In the Cafeteria Segment, the company invests in the further development of the platform, both in the area of products and technology. In the first quarter of this year the number of users was 504,000 and the turnover was PLN 76.9 million (down by 10% year on year). Revenues amounted to PLN 10.6 million and were higher by 21% compared to the same period in 2020.
– In response to the limitations of our current operations, we accelerated the work on the online offer and new products. We managed to launch the MultiLife Programme which fits the latest market trends and employers' expectations in the field of comprehensive employee support, not only during the pandemic. MultiLife gives employees access to online training, consultations with trainers and nutritionists, personalised diet plans, sessions with a psychologist or mindfulness courses. We are currently expanding the MultiLife offer and the technological infrastructure needed to support the product. We also carry out activities related to the development of the Yes2move platform, e-commerce and Zdrofit Zdrowe Miejsce – adds Bartosz Józefiak.
