How to prepare for an easier life and less stress? By engaging in regular physical activity. This is how seven fitness networks from all over Poland encourage Poles to exercise regularly, which supports the body and mind in taking up daily challenges, regardless of age, in a joint campaign. Its ambassadors are representatives of various generations, including a senior couple who admit that being active is not only about health, but also about a longer and better life, including sex life.
Sport as an effective elixir of youth
Physical activity reduces the level of stress in the body, increasing the amount of happiness hormones, such as endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, which have a positive effect on our wellbeing. Regular exercise improves cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency. It also increases self-confidence. As many as 91% of Poles believe that physical activity has a positive effect on their sense of self-attractiveness[1]. As cardiologist Łukasz Małek, M.D., PhD., argues, there are even more benefits: – People who perform moderate to high intensity aerobic exercises are less likely to develop cardiovascular diseases than those who are physically inactive. This risk is significantly reduced by undertaking even moderate-intensity physical activity lasting at least 150 minutes a week, which is consistent with the minimum recommendations of the WHO. Scientific research also shows that increasing such effort to 300 minutes a week brings even greater health benefits. It is worth remembering that regular physical activity improves the overall condition of the body, helps to lower blood pressure, optimises the lipid profile, and reduces the risk of diabetes. Training is not only a good way to prevent, but also treat many diseases of affluence. A small amount of activity is enough to achieve health benefits. A recent JAMA study demonstrated that taking 7,000 steps per day translates into a reduction in mortality by as much as 50-70%.
