According to data from Benefit Systems, which has just introduced international acceptance of sports cards, during holidays employees prefer to spend their time actively as it provides them with better rest and more effective regeneration. As part of this change, MultiSport Programme users gain access to over 11,000 sports and recreation facilities in six countries. This is an attractive solution for employees travelling around Europe both for business and pleasure.

Outside Poland, MultiSport operates in Croatia, Bulgaria, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Thanks to the launch of international card acceptance, users have gained access to sports facilities in five countries under the same conditions as they are subject to locally.

Hybrid travel

The latest data from the Central Statistical Office shows that in 2024 Poles made nearly 1.5 million business trips abroad. One in five trips (22%) lasted between two and four days, and approximately 100,000 trips lasted five days or longer. In turn, the EY report shows that due to talent shortages and the need to ensure process stability for some companies, international employee mobility is becoming an operational necessity. Last year, changes to regulations facilitating so-called short-term and long-term mobility of high-class specialists within the European Union came into force. The so-called EU Blue Card is intended to increase the number of temporary transfers between company branches. Trends such as “bleisure” – combining business trips with a few days of rest – are also important.

Active recreation of Poles

The latest MultiSport solution is in line with the trend of international leisure and sports tourism. According to data from the Central Statistical Office, all markets in which MultiSport operates are among the top ten tourist destinations chosen by Poles – adds Kinga Kołodziej.

According to the World Economic Forum’s “Sports for People and Planet” report, sports tourism has overtaken the entire tourism segment in terms of revenues following the COVID-19 pandemic, and a survey commissioned by MultiSport conducted during last year’s summer holidays showed that as many as 60% of Poles consider physical activity an effective way to relax and 55% spend their summer holidays actively. According to 96% of MultiSport Programme users, active recreation has a positive impact on coping with work challenges upon returning to the office.

How does it work?

International card acceptance is available to adult users who have a virtual MultiSport card with confirmed identity in the mobile application. To search for activities available in other countries they can use the International Visits Map. Employers and users do not need to make any changes to their MultiSport package to benefit from the foreign offer.
