A mini fitness club with a reception desk, an interactive floor for games and quizzes, a reflex meter testing reaction speed, sports equipment adapted to the youngest as well as the opportunity to take on professional roles such as a fitness trainer, physiotherapist, or dietician – all this awaits children in the miniciti which opened its gates in Centrum Praskie Koneser in Warsaw. The MultiSport Foundation became the strategic partner of the event.
Miniciti is a project of an educational city for children, whose residents can take on various professional roles performed by adults in everyday life. There are 13 different mini workplaces prepared for children aged 6 to 15, including a bank, an art gallery, an engineering workshop, a laboratory, a police station, a studio, a radio station, an internet editorial office, a car service, a fire brigade, a television studio, a hospital, and a Zdrofit fitness club.
A miniature version of a real fitness club has been recreated by the MultiSport Foundation. For the youngest guests, there will be not only age-appropriate exercise equipment, including balls, hula hoops, inflatable barbells, foam rollers, skipping ropes, and resistance bands, but also modern sports attractions such as an interactive floor with fitness games or a reflex meter prepared. The classes will be conducted by specially trained instructors.
– Despite its small size minicity is very modern so it must have a Zdrofit fitness club where its residents can take care of their health and wellbeing. We are glad to have joined this inspiring and engaging initiative, thanks to which we can not only activate children, but also educate them on how to take care of their health through movement. This is particularly important in the context of alarming reports regarding both the problem of obesity among children in Poland as well as the increasingly deteriorating mental condition of the young generation, which is positively influenced by regular physical activity – emphasises Marcin Fojudzki, Management Board Member at Benefit Systems, which established the MultiSport Foundation in 2021.
During classes at the mini Zdrofit fitness club, young residents of miniciti will learn three professions related to a healthy lifestyle: a personal trainer, a dietitian, and a physiotherapist. Young trainers will learn how to properly perform the most important exercises, dietitians will explore the principles of healthy eating, and physiotherapists will try to help famous athletes heal their injuries.
– Spending time in a mini fitness club in minciti is not only an opportunity to engage in physical activity using modern equipment but also to learn more about the specific work of specialists in a healthy and active lifestyle who play a huge role in society nowadays. Through the presence of the MultiSport Foundation in miniciti we want to show children that sport does not have to be boring. We want them to be active every day, in line with WHO recommendations. We are convinced that education in this area also has the potential to bring about greater social changes. According to the MultiSport Index 2023 survey, one in three adults does not undertake any physical activity even once a month. One of our long-term goals is to reduce this percentage each year as children grow up. We strive to make us, as a society, healthier – says Tomasz Półgrabski, President of the MultiSport Foundation.
Children receive special remuneration for the “work” performed in each “institution”. They can deposit mini aces – the internal currency of the city – received for their tasks into the bank in miniciti (learning how to save) or spend it for books or blocks in the Dream Shop.
Miniciti, initiated by the Miasto Dzieci Foundation, was opened on Saturday, 21 October. The organisers invite children aged 6-15 to participate in the minicity’s life.
Children’s participation requires the purchase of a ticket. In this way parents and group guardians can additionally support children from communities at risk of social exclusion by providing them with free access to educational activities.
